Citystreets
Hails A New Taxi
New York, NY
- Citystreets was invited along with some of
the worlds most talented designers, by the Design
Trust For Public Space to participate in
it's initiative to redesign the New York Taxi.
We collaborated with transportation visionary
and classically trained auto designer Dan Sturges
who was the person responsible for the GEM,
the worlds first neighborhood electric vehicle.
We presented our thinking to a packed auditorium
at Parsons School of design at an event moderated
by Kurt Anderson of NPR. Our thinking extended
beyond the vehicle, and included the driver,
technology, infrastructure, and policy. Both
the project and our ideas were well received
by the public and the press. We look forward
to our continued involvement with this important
project and being part of the team that brings
a modern, safe urban-context vehicle to the
streets of New York City. For more information
