Howling in the East Village

New York, NY - Citystreets was asked by the organizers of the East Village Arts Festival to participate in their day long event that is a culture tour-de-force of street theatre, live music and artistic celebration known as the HOWL festival in honor of long-time east village resident poet Allen Ginsberg. With a little street theatre of our own we came and painted a stencil on the ground of Avenue A which was closed off to cars for the day. We also entertained, educated, and engaged with thousands of NYC residents who came by our booth picked up our literature and more importantly picked our brains with questions about how we thought NYC could be made safer. Many of them also shared their frustrations with us of a transportation system that isn't working. We also were able to introduce hundreds of people to Segways and a GEM electric car. The electric car was loaned to us by the festival organizers. Four Segways were loaned to us by Itsi Atkins of NY Segway who was extremely generous with his time and his machines.
